You know how stressful a morning can be. Whether you’re a student, a businessman, a worker, you must’ve experienced the kind of morning where your head is filled with worries about deadlines, unfinished tasks, problems with your classmates, and last night’s fights. Vanyu Krastev, a Bulgarian street artist, decided to make people feel better on the way to their office by placing googly eyes on the least attractive objects on the street. And surprisingly, it works!
He entitled this fun project with “Eyebombing” He describes it as “The art of sticking ‘googly eyes’onto an inanimate object in the public sphere, in a way that cleverly lends the object the appearance of a living creature.” As simple as it may sounds, Eyebombing is actually pretty entertaining. What makes it special is the way Vanyu picks the object he’ll use. He chooses the ones that are already broken and unattractive to the passersby. He even uses an unnoticed water splash on the ground as an art object. How clever!
Vanyu said that his goal is to “humanize the streets, and bring sunshine to people passing by.” Simply said, it was intended to erupt giggles from you. Well, did it work? (I laughed too)
His works are simple and amazingly brilliant at the same time. His intention to make streets more alive and fun for people received positive feedbacks. His works have even been covered in big media like Mashable, This Is Colossal, Metro, and BBC. You can see more of his works on his official website, Eyebombing.com. Or, if you prefer the Bulgarian version, you can visit Eyebombing.bg.
