Are you a fan of craft beers? Well, who aren’t?
Craft beers offer a different drinking experience through its fine local ingredients. Craft beers are also made in small brewery, which always strike for new flavor and innovative brewing technique. It’s something that you wouldn’t find in enterprise-scale brewery.
Matt Everley, a North-Carolina based graphic designer, is one of craft beers’ fans. And following his artistic nature, he also admires beers’ labels. “I’ve always thought the Holy Grail for designer is beer labels and album covers,” said the Senior Art Director of Hickory, NC.
To express his love of beers’ labels, Everley created an exhibition that showcases his works of 52 beers and brewery logos. These artworks are all created in one year only. Every piece is unique, as it uses different typefaces, style, and color theme. But one similarity from all of his artworks is: they are strikingly vibrant! Just look at these snaps taken from his exhibition in Hickory Museum of Art, North Carolina.

If you wonder if those are real logos of existing beers, they aren’t. These craft beers’ logos are the result of Everley’s imagination based on several craft beers he knows. So, no. These logos are not taken by any brand yet, in case you want to close a deal with Everley and take one of these logos home for your craft beers branding.
For Everley, creating beers’ logos and labels are more than just designing. It’s also about telling the story behind the making of the beers. Since his clients are craft beer producers and small breweries, there are always different reasons, meanings, stories, and purposes behind each logo. “I’m wondering when the brewer used this kind of hop, what was he thinking and how much do I play that into some kind of visual element,” said Everley, the owner of www.medesignlab.com.
Everley gives a pretty good example of what graphic designers should do when designing – telling story through visuals. Well, not every designer does such thing these days. There are several professional designers that give a deep thought and inject meanings into design, and some of them are Gaekoners. They are known for their professional works and being able to handle any design requests, starting from logo to web design.
