“Deadpool” Animated Series for Adults Coming Via Donald Glover
“Deadpool” is heading to the small screen. Donald Glover is teaming up with his brother Stephen Glover to create an adult animated series for the hit Marvel movie, which originally stars Ryan Reynolds as the titular superhero.
The shows, currently still untitled, has been given a straight-to-series order. The first season that will consist of 10 episodes is expected to debut in 2018 on FXX as part of marvel Television’s partnership with FX production and ABC Signature Studios.
In addition to the Glover brothers who will serve as the showrunners, executive producers and writers, the series is executive produced by Marvel’s Jeph Loeb and Jim Chory.
“How much more fun could this be? Deadpool, Donald and FX – the perfect fit for the Merchant with the Mouth,” said Loeb. “We’re thrilled that our relationship with FX that started with ‘Legion’ continues with what is sure to be a groundbreaking show in adult animation.”
No voice cast is attached to the project at this point, but a writer’s room for the series has been set up in London, where Donald Glover is filming the much-anticipated “Han Solo” spin off movie.
This is not Glover’s first time to have teamed with FX. The actor/rapper already has an overall deal with the network for his hit show “Atlanta”. He’s no stranger to working with Marvel either, as he’s set to appear as in the upcoming “Spider-Man: Homecoming”.(dth/gaekon)
