What did you think when Samsung released that viral ad to mock Apple’s iPhones? To me, I saw it coming – though it was still surprising to watch how subtle the shade the South Korean electronic giant threw at its competitor.
While Apple has yet to respond to Samsung’s video, Motorola has – and that’s what I didn’t see coming. To promote its Moto Z phones and their accessories known as Moto Mod, the company over the weekend launched a clip poking fun at Samsung.
Titled “Up-Upgrade”, the 36-second video continues where Samsung’s “Growing Up” left off. A man, who bears resemblances to the one from Samsung’s ad, is seen coming home with a brand new Samsung phone and shows it off to his girlfriend, who then impresses him when she brings out her own Motorola phone and attaches one Mod that turns the device into a projector.
Previously, Samsung shared its own ad featuring an avid Apple fan who decided to ditch the much-talked-about iPhone X for the latest Samsung Galaxy phone. The clip mocked some negative points in iPhone devices which Samsung owners don’t have to deal with, such as the poor camera, battery and the fact that iPhones aren’t water resistant.
What do you think of Motorola’s ad? Is it enough to convince you to trade your Apple or Samsung phones for one of Motorola Z devices and the Moto Mod, which could cost you additional $300 per piece?
