America’s independence day is still two months away, but Oreo is already in celebration mode. The company has just debuted Firework Oreos, which are basically your regular Oreos with red, white and blue sprinkles in the crème.
The sprinkles are described in the packaging as Pop Rock-esque “popping candies,” which pop in your mouth to create the firework sensation. The Firework Oreos were launched on May 8 and will be available on the shelves for a limited time.
But if you can’t find these Oreos in you countries, some folks at Food & Wine magazine who received an advanced package of Firework Oreos can tell you how the cookies taste.
“As it turns out, much like actual fireworks, they’re relatively enjoyable and kind of fun for while,” writer Adam Campbell-Schmitt wrote. “The Firework Oreos are basically your classic cream-filled cookie. There’s no real taste difference, just a slight gritty texture from the popping candies in the frosting .” He added that the delayed reaction of the popping candies is a nice surprise
But the new Oreos aren’t the only thing the company has announced in the past few days. For its new campaign, Oreo wants you to create and submit your own Oreo flavor. You can participate in the contest by submitting your flavor through Twitter and/or Instagram, and use the hashtags #MyOreoCreation and #Contest.
The contest runs through July 14 and the winner, who will be decided based on fan voting, will receive $500,000. Sounds interesting to you? Well, you’d better be as creative as possible and submit your creation quickly, because you aren’t the only one vying for the prize money.(dth/gaekon)
